ALPINA 4 SUMMITS

ALPINA 4 SUMMITS

Alpina and Alltrails.com launch the "Alpina 4 Summits World Challenge" international elevation contest.

In partnering up with AllTrails.com, the leading site for mountain climbing and hiking enthusiasts, the watch brand ALPINA innovates its communication strategy to draw new generations of mountain climbers.

The Swiss watch manufacture offers 3 million Alltrails.com members, and anyone who downloads the AllTrails mobile application from the Apple AppStore or Google Play for the duration of the challenge, 4 contests that are each 2 months long. Based on the virtual climbing of 4 legendary summits through the dedicated mobile application, they will calculate their cumulative elevation accomplished during this period while practicing their favorite outdoor sports - running, walking and mountain climbing.

Each contest will recognize a legendary summit:
Contest 1: May 1 - June 30, 2014, Matterhorn, Switzerland, 4478m
Contest 2: July 1 - August 31, 2014, Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, 5895m
Contest 3: September 1 - October 31, 2014, Mount McKinley, Alaska (USA), 6194m
Contest 4: May 1 - October 31, 2014, Mount Everest, Nepal, 8848m

The height of each summit serves as the minimum elevation goal to be reached by the participants for each contest.

Out of those who reach the minimum target elevation, Alpina and Alltrails will randomly draw one winner per contest who will win a trip to visit the legendary summit for which he or she has competed. The 3 participants who reach the greatest cumulative elevation in the first 3 contests will each win an Alpiner watch, the new Alpina model dedicated to the world of alpine sports.

The objective of the fourth and final contest during this period will be to reach 8848 m in cumulative altitude, which corresponds to the legendary summit of Mount Everest. The grand prize winner for 2014 chosen from those who have reached this goal will win a unique trip to the base camp of the highest summit in the world, Mount Everest. The participant who has reached the highest cumulative elevation of this contest will win an Alpiner 4 Automatic Chronograph, the new high performance Alpina watch dedicated to the world of alpine sports.
