Questions for Colby Stevenson

What motivates you every day to surpass yourself?

When I look back at my life, all the accomplishments and all the hard times, I remember that you just have to enjoy every day because each one is a stepping stone to your goals. Maximize self-care and passions, these help you build towards your goals, but most importantly trust the process and know that things will work out if you put your mind to it. Looking back at this journey, and using this blueprint to go forward, is what motivates me every day!

What is your best sporting memory?

When I was 16, my friend Joss Christensen made the Olympic team at the final qualifying event that took place in my hometown of Park City, Utah. He was the dark horse going to Sochi in 2014, an unexpected talent. We live-streamed the Slopestyle finals at his house, with his roommates, in the middle of the night. Joss stomped the cleanest run with style and took home the first ever Olympic Slopestyle Gold in Freeskiing! A moment I will never forget, and one of the strongest emotions I've ever felt for a friend. This perspective of being a spectator motivates me as a competitor, as I would be honored for my friends to have a similar experience.

What message would you give to young people who want to follow in your footsteps?

Life is about enjoying the little things. Enjoy every opportunity to be outside, every sport you learn, every friend you make, and every challenge you get to overcome. If you have a passion for something, chase it! Don't stop doing it and don't be afraid to fail. Trying new things is the best way to improve your coordination and grow your skills for all sports. My dad always told me, 'the person who is the best at something is the one who works the hardest at it'. As I get older, I realize that if you simply love what you are doing, you will be successful!

If you had to keep just 4 of the brand's products, which would you choose?

The Alpiner Extreme Chronograph Automatic is my favorite for its sleek design, with a silver band and black accents on the dials. It really is a luxury watch and I'm surprised with how comfy the metal band/clasp sits on my wrist. I have been skiing in this one as well! The Black Alpiner Extreme Automatic is the everyday watch that never comes off. From long ski days followed by a hot tub, to surf trips in Central America or Indonesia, this watch is as beautiful as it is functional. Can never go wrong with an all-black look and sporty rubber wristband. The Alpiner Extreme Skeleton has such a classy look. I wear this one on very special occasions, for example galas, fundraisers, meetings, and nights where I want to feel extra confident.
