ALPINA CELEBRATES A MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY WITH WILLIAM BALDWIN
Camana Bay, Grand Cayman – A momentous celebration marking the 130th anniversary of Alpina watches took place at the Island Companies’ The Mansion, with actor and Global Brand Ambassador William Baldwin. Guido Benedini, Alpina CEO and Ralph Simons, President of the Americas hosted more than one hundred guests, among them watch collectors and brand enthusiasts.
Since its founding in 1883, Alpina remains committed to creating robust sports watches with the highest precision and reliability. “We are among few brands to celebrate a rich history. Our foundation started with the Alpinist, who were innovators that sought to master watchmaking for any environment, and their vision is still reflected today. Whether it’s the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps or the depths of the Caribbean Sea, there are no limitations to what we have and can accomplish. This is what Alpina’s history has taught us,” said CEO Guido Benedini, as he welcomed guests to the occasion.
Baldwin was selected to be the global brand ambassador just last year, launching the Extreme Diver Collection. “This collection is a pillar in the growth of the Alpina brand in the Americas,” commented Simons. “It was a perfect location for our celebration and we’re pleased Billy could join us.” As an avid water sportsman, Baldwin appears in the brands advertising campaign dedicated to these timepieces. “It’s an honor to be the face of Alpina. I have learned a great deal about the history of this brand and the craftsmanship from their past is very much alive. They continue to create some of the most sophisticated timepieces for generations to appreciate,” said Baldwin. Following the event, guests were invited to join Baldwin for a snorkeling excursion in the beautiful water and coral reefs the Cayman Islands are known for.
In addition to the success of the Extreme Divers Collection, Alpina creates a special timepiece to commemorate this special anniversary. The Heritage Pilot Collection Alpina 130 range is truly reminiscent of an aviator watch from the beginning of the century.
Each model in the Alpina 130 range shares a number of features. All are driven by the AL-860 caliber, offering unrivalled accuracy, precision and durability. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds and a “Bi-compax” chronograph, modified by Alpina, as well as a telemeter and tachymeter. The unique “Glass Box” construction of the sapphire crystal also pays homage to the watch design from its past. The 41.5 mm case is highlighted by a transparent case-back, revealing the finely “fish scales” decorated movement with blue screws, and is water resistant to 50 meters below sea level.
