Markus Eder

Markus Eder es un esquiador profesional italiano del Tirol
del Sur que se ha hecho un nombre en las disciplinas de freestyle y freeride.
Desde muy joven se lanzó por las pistas, primero con esquís de descenso, antes
de dejarse seducir por la libertad del freestyle y sus trucos acrobáticos. Su
talento saltó a la palestra en 2010, cuando ganó el Nine Knights, impulsando su
carrera a nivel profesional. Pero Markus es un espíritu libre, ávido de nuevas
experiencias. Así que se pasó al freeride, atraído por los amplios espacios
abiertos y los desafíos técnicos de las montañas. En 2011, confirmó su
potencial al quedar segundo en la Red Bull Linecatcher. Aprovechando este
éxito, se unió al Freeride World Tour (FWT) en 2018. Al año siguiente, se
convirtió en Campeón del Mundo de Freeride. En la actualidad, Markus Eder sigue
explorando las montañas y compartiendo su pasión a través de ambiciosos
proyectos de vídeo como «The Ultimate Run», donde fusiona el freestyle y el
freeride en una impresionante carrera. Recientemente ha codirigido la película
«Circle of Madness» con el snowboarder Victor de Le Rue. La película narra su
aventura en Alaska, un regreso a las raíces del freeride, donde la amistad y la
pasión les guiaron por las empinadas laderas de Haines. Más allá de la hazaña
deportiva, «Circle of Madness» da testimonio de una profunda amistad entre
estos dos atletas que crecieron juntos, compartiendo los mismos sueños de
libertad y deslizamiento.

Questions for Markus Eder

What motivates you every day to surpass yourself?

The joy of being able to do what I love has always been pushing me forward. Skiing is what fuels me, being in the mountains is what calms me. That’s what gives me the energy to do everything else in life, also for the things that are not so fun.

What is your best sporting memory?

I guess it’s the second place I scored back in 2011 at the Red Bull Linecatcher. I was a complete rookie in the backcountry, receiving my first pair of powder skis just a few weeks before and ended up on the podium in between two of my biggest heroes. That competition opened a door to a new world to me which I started pursuing from that day on!

What message would you give to young people who want to follow in your footsteps?

Go out, be absolutely passionate about what you do but ultimately go and have a good time with your friends! If you’re having fun you’re doing it right. Find your goal, dream it, but also forget about it too. You don’t need to think about your ultimate goal all the time, your life will automatically bring you in that direction if you really want it and you’ll score many achievements on that path.

If you had to keep just 4 of the brand's products, which would you choose?

That would be the Startimer Quartz Worldtimer and Chronograph, the Alpiner Extreme Automatic as well as the Alpiner Extreme Skeleton. It’s hard to say but the Skeleton is probably my favourite out of these four.
