THE SPIRIT OF THE ALPINISTS

At Alpina, every member of our extended family — the Alpinists — shares more than just a professional bond. What unites us is a common mindset and a shared vision: the pursuit of progress, the drive to push limits, and the determination to excel — even in the most demanding environments.

Alpinists rise to challenges wherever they may be — from mountain peaks to ocean depths, and through the trials of everyday life — with determination, humility, and courage. They move forward together, guided by founding values that define our identity.

The name Alpinists was not chosen at random. It was introduced by our founder, Gottlieb Hauser, when he established the Alpina Union Horlogère S.A. in 1883. His vision, known as the Alpinist Principle, was to unite the strengths of the Swiss watchmaking industry to reach the highest standards of quality and technical innovation — through a spirit of solidarity, collaboration, and shared responsibility, true to the essence of the rope team spirit (esprit de cordée).

This philosophy of mutual support and trust continues to guide everything we do. It is grounded in four core principles:

·         PERSEVERANCE: Never giving up in the face of adversity. Every step matters.

·         INDEPENDENT THINKING: Breaking new ground with clarity, creativity, and confidence.

·         TRUSTING ONE’S INSTINCTS: Listening to intuition, honing judgment, and making decisions rooted in experience.

·         RESPECTING ONE’S ROOTS: Staying true to who we are, our history, and our heritage.

To be an Alpinist is a mindset. It means moving forward — together — with precision, purpose, and passion, feet firmly grounded, eyes set on the horizon.
