Markus Eder

Markus Eder est un skieur
professionnel italien, originaire du Tyrol du Sud, qui s'est illustré dans les
disciplines du freestyle et du freeride. Dès son plus jeune âge, il dévale les
pentes, d'abord en ski alpin, puis se laisse séduire par la liberté du
freestyle et ses figures acrobatiques. Son talent éclate au grand jour en 2010
lorsqu'il remporte le Nine Knights, propulsant sa carrière au niveau
professionnel. Mais Markus est un esprit libre, avide de nouvelles expériences.
Il se tourne alors vers le freeride, attiré par les grands espaces et les défis
techniques de la montagne. En 2011, il confirme son potentiel en décrochant la
deuxième place au Red Bull Linecatcher. Fort de cette réussite, il rejoint le
Freeride World Tour (FWT) en 2018. L’année suivante, il devient champion du
monde de freeride. Aujourd'hui, Markus Eder continue d'explorer les montagnes
et de partager sa passion à travers des projets vidéo ambitieux comme "The
Ultimate Run", où il fusionne freestyle et freeride dans un run
époustouflant. Récemment, il a coréalisé avec le snowboardeur Victor de Le Rue
le film "Circle of Madness". Ce film retrace leur aventure en Alaska,
un retour aux sources du freeride où l'amitié et la passion les ont guidés sur
les pentes abruptes de Haines. Au-delà de l'exploit sportif, "Circle of
Madness" témoigne d'une amitié profonde entre ces deux athlètes qui ont
grandi ensemble, partageant les mêmes rêves de liberté et de glisse.

Questions for Markus Eder

What motivates you every day to surpass yourself?

The joy of being able to do what I love has always been pushing me forward. Skiing is what fuels me, being in the mountains is what calms me. That’s what gives me the energy to do everything else in life, also for the things that are not so fun.

What is your best sporting memory?

I guess it’s the second place I scored back in 2011 at the Red Bull Linecatcher. I was a complete rookie in the backcountry, receiving my first pair of powder skis just a few weeks before and ended up on the podium in between two of my biggest heroes. That competition opened a door to a new world to me which I started pursuing from that day on!

What message would you give to young people who want to follow in your footsteps?

Go out, be absolutely passionate about what you do but ultimately go and have a good time with your friends! If you’re having fun you’re doing it right. Find your goal, dream it, but also forget about it too. You don’t need to think about your ultimate goal all the time, your life will automatically bring you in that direction if you really want it and you’ll score many achievements on that path.

If you had to keep just 4 of the brand's products, which would you choose?

That would be the Startimer Quartz Worldtimer and Chronograph, the Alpiner Extreme Automatic as well as the Alpiner Extreme Skeleton. It’s hard to say but the Skeleton is probably my favourite out of these four.
