THE ALPINA CHRISTMAS WATCHES SELECTION

Christmas is just round the corner Alpinist!  If you are running behind on your Christmas presents, then this is the time to have a look at our curated Christmas selection. We identified four watches, each one corresponding to a specific “Alpinist” personality. If you recognize yourself or someone you want to gift in one of the descriptions, then that’s the right watch for you!

1.The extreme “Alpinist”:  Alpiner 4 Chronograph

This incredibly rugged timepiece is the perfect gift for the “extreme” Alpinist, the one who loves climbing, or dreams of climbing, the north face of the Eiger. The Alpiner 4 Chronograph is the perfect watch for dapper gents (or ladies) who love outdoor sports and high performance activities.

A high-performance, yet elegant case distinguishes this 44mm automatic professional Alpine chronograph. The Alpiner 4 features the four Alpina sport properties: Antimagnetic, Antishock, Water-resistant, Stainless steel case. It is by imposing these four properties for a watch that in 1938 Alpina invented the first modern sport watch.

For outdoor sports enthusiasts a nice feature is also the 360° Compass bezel for immediate orientation and GPS back-up.

The Alpiner 4 Chronograph comes with two dial variants, black or silver, and can be fitted with a stainless steel bracelet or a genuine alligator strap. Prominent on the dial is the “4” logo which distinguishes all Alpina watches possessing the 4 Alpina sports.

2. The Gentleman “Alpinist”:  Alpiner Automatic Chronograph

This sporty elegant timepiece is the ideal timekeeping companion for the gentleman “Alpinist”, the kind of person who loves classicism and the Swiss Alpine style but is not ready one to compromise on intrinsic watchmaking content and precision. You will see this watch either on the wrist of participants in the Cresta Run in St.Moritz or on pilots of the Swiss  ‘Monaco of the Mountains’, the Arosa Alpine classic car rally.

The Alpiner Automatic Chronograph encases our AL-750 automatic chronograph movement.  It has a diameter of 41.5 mm and comes in 4, sunray finished, dial colours: silvered, black and grey with rose gold coloured indexes and numerals. The dome shaped dial under the antireflective treated “Glass Box” sapphire crystal, features applied indexes and numerals. The Alpiner Automatic Chronograph offers a choice between a genuine leather or stainless steel bracelet.

3. The “Alpinist” Pilot: Startimer Pilot Chronograph Big Date.

This timepiece is designed for serious Alpine Pilots, those landing on high altitude strips in the Swiss Alps or on extremely short landing fields in Canada, the Australian outback or the African bush. It is ideal for any gent (or lady) who loves air sports and unlimited spaces and possibilities.

Our AL-372 high precision quartz chronograph movement drives every model in the range. A 44 mm-diameter, two-part stainless steel case, a scratchproof sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, big date and small second displays at the 6 o’clock position complete the package. The unmistakable red Alpina triangle signature is in its traditional position at the base of the central second hand, and for activities other than flying, these watches are water resistant to 100 metres.

4. The “Alpinist” Diver: Seastrong Diver 300

The watch for those who like to dive in a slightly more challenging and special way. With orange luminous numerals on its diving bezel, the Seastrong Diver 300 is made for altitude diving, a specific diving discipline, practiced in mountain lakes, like for example in the Swiss lake of Cauma. Wherever you will dive, in the Alps, in the oceans or on Miami Beach, the Seastrong Diver 300 will provide  “Alpinist” divers the professional features required to withstand any kind diving mission.

The particularity of this watch is the orange luminous colour on the uni-directional turning diving bezel.  Orange is the most highly visible of all the colours in the spectrum, and particularly so when set against a dark, contrasting background. Water is responsible for the attenuation of light due to absorption. In other words, as one goes deeper on a dive, the water absorbs more color. Color vision is also affected by turbidity of the water as well as particulate matter. Orange is the most visible color in all types of water, and therefore offers the professional diver the best in dial and bezel visibility. The Extreme Diver 300 Orange is water resistant to a depth of 300m/1000ft. It has a diameter of 44mm and features a see-through case back revealing our AL-525 automatic movement. The package is completed by a choice of diver’s rubber, metal or metal mesh straps with securely folding clasp.
